Firefighters Recommend Vinyl Siding for Maryland Homes

"Giving the home an extra moisture barrier, insulation, and even curb appeal, sidings are one of the must-have accessories for your house exterior. While many materials are able to do the job effectively and efficiently, some of them have disadvantages that could make you call up professional Maryland siding contractors in a jiff. One siding material that recently got a bad review is asphalt, which is often used in older homes, and WSAZ news writer Olivia Fecteau talks about the dangers of the said material: According to Fecteau, what may look like brick on an apartment's exterior walls are actually asphalt that are made of felt paper and a coat of tar. Although it is rarely used in newer homes, asphalt siding is commonly found in older residences. The danger here, according to Charleston Fire Department Assistant Chief Rich Simmons, is that asphalt is a highly flammable material."
